Für eine Kooperation von Deutschen und Ugandischen Mittelstandunternehmen werden noch weitere Partner gesucht. Unter Einsatz von Solarenergie soll Trockenobst hergestellt werden.
Bei ihrem Einsatz vor Ort in Uganda wurde unserer Managerin Kerstin Wolf stark bewusst, dass Energie und der damit verbundene produktive Einsatz von entsprechender Produktionstechnologie ein Engpass für die Entwicklung des Landes sind. Das öffentliche Energie-Netz ist instabil und unzureichend ausgebaut. Solarenergie dagegen ist eine klimafreundliche Alternative um eine stabilere und dezentrale Energieversorgung zu schaffen, und somit industrielle Prozesse zu ermöglichen.
In Uganda ist ein Großteil der Bevölkerung im landwirtschaftlichen Sektor tätig. Aber ca. 35% der landwirtschaftlichen Erträge verderben aufgrund fehlender Weiterverarbeitungsmöglichkeiten. Der Mangel an Energie, fehlendes Technologie Know-How bezüglich der Weiterverarbeitung der Ernte (insbesondere zur Lebensmitteltrocknung), sowie mangelnde finanzielle Ressourcen führen zu einer stagnierenden Situation.
Mit Ihrem Projekt möchte die Existenzgründerin Kerstin Wolf zusammen mit Ihrer Partnerfirma All in Trade Ltd. eine Kooperation von Deutschen und Ugandischen Mittelstandunternehmen aufbauen. So soll das Potential, welches im produktiven Einsatz von erneuerbarer Energie steckt, genutzt werden. Hierzu ist Kerstin auch im engen Austausch mit der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
Ziel ist es die ländlichen Regionen Ugandas auf diese Weise in den nationalen und internationalen Handel einzubinden und nachhaltig Arbeitsplätze zu schaffen.

All in Trade Ltd. – ein inhabergeführtes mittelständisches Unternehmen, welches seit 2008 nachhaltige und qualitativ hochwertige Systeme im Bereich Solar- und Windenergie in Uganda entwickelt, installiert und wartet. Trockenobst-Produktion – einer der Projektpartner ist ein zertifiziertes Bio-Unternehmen aus dem Agrarsektor. Die landwirtschaftliche Kooperative verfügt über langjährige Expertise in ökologischer Landwirtschaft und dem Export nach Europa und Japan. Bislang wurde getrocknete Ananas in geringen Mengen in sehr einfachen Solar-Tunneltrocknern hergestellt. Gemeinsam soll eine Produktion aufgebaut werden, die auf Basis von erneuerbarer Energie Trockenobst herstellt. Der Herstellungsprozess muss hohe Anforderung an Stabilität und Qualität erfüllen und gleichzeitig bezahlbar bleiben. So sollen hochwertige Produkte erzeugt werden, welche sich auch für den Export eignen. An der Ausarbeitung des Konzepts unterstützen bereits deutsche Unternehmen und Institute.
Was wird gesucht?
Für die Kooperation suchen wir weitere Partner aus dem Bereich Bio Lebensmittel, welche am Import und Vertrieb von qualitativ hochwertigen getrockneten Ananas interessiert sind.
Was sind die Vorteile für die Projektpartner?
Die Produkte stammen aus einem gesteuerten und kontrollierten Verarbeitungsprozess, welcher eine stabile Mengen auf gleichbleibend hohem Qualitätsniveau ermöglicht. Die Fertigung wird in einer Region errichtet, wo eine ganzjähriger Ernte von Ananas möglich ist.
Soziale Aspekte
Durch das Projekt wird für die Farmer und für die Angestellten in der Fertigung ein sicheres Einkommen auf Basis von fairen Löhnen und menschenwürdiger Arbeiter generiert. Es wird eine Solar-Wasserpumpe errichtet, um die Dorfgemeinschaft mit sauberem Trinkwasser zu versorgen. Zudem ist geplant, den Farmern kleine Photovoltaik Solar-Home-Systems (SHS) zur Verfügung zu stellen. So wird die gesundheitsschädigende Rauchentwicklung durch Paraffinlampen eingedämmt und die Familien werden klimaneutrales elektrisches Licht haben.

Marketplace: Looking for partner companies for our project „ Solar Powered Dry Fruits“ in Uganda
We are looking for additional partners to participate in a German / Ugandan cooperation of mid-size companies. Project Purpose: Establish a solar powered drying facility.
During her deployment in Uganda our manager Kerstin Wolf became fast aware that energy and the linked captive usage of energy to run advanced production technologies is a bottleneck in the development of the country. The reliability of the public grid is extremely low and not available in many rural regions of the country. Solar energy presents a climate friendly solution to provide a stable and decentralized solution to run stable production processes.
A high share of the population in Uganda is depending on the agricultural sector. Nevertheless 35 % of agricultural production is wasted due to post-harvest loss of agricultural products. A lack of proper knowledge to set up and run advanced drying technologies, missing availability of energy and missing financial resources are leading to a stagnating situation.
Kerstin Wolf wants to install together with her partner company All in Trade Ltd. a cooperation of German and Ugandan mid-size companies. The project purpose is to provide clean energy and to introduce a post-harvest technology which helps to reduce the waste of food. Kerstin is already in close contact with the Deutschen Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to realize this project.
With this project rural communities should be included into national and international trade, which will create sustainable employment in the relevant region.

Organic Supply Chain – the project partner will be a certified organic company from the agricultural sector. This cooperative is experienced over years in organic agriculture and in exporting mainly fresh fruits to Europe and Japan. Up to now the pineapples were dried in quite simple small-scale tunnel dryers. The common project will assure higher and stable production output based on an advanced drying technology, which is driven with renewable energy. The production process must respect a high level on stability and quality and must be affordable at the same time. The high-quality level of the fruits allows export on organic premium standard. German Companies and Institutions are already involved in defining the dedicated technical set-up for the energy sources and the drying technology.
Whom do we need?
For our cooperation we are looking for further partners, coming from the organic food area, who are interested in import and sales of organic high-quality dried fruit standard.
What can we offer?
The fruits are produced in an automatically controlled production process, which will assure a stable volume on a permanent high-quality standard. The facility will be installed in a region which enables harvesting of pineapples all over the year.
Social aspects
The project will ensure a stable and fair income and decent work for the organic farmers and the employees of the plant. With installing a solar water pump, the rural community will get access to clean drinking water. In addition, it is planned to provide small photovoltaic Solar-Home-Systems (SHS) to the organic farmers. This will avoid the risk of respiratory diseases due to paraffin lamps.
